Funky ! Thanks, guys, you've convinced me to clean it up sooner than
i've guessed...

It was a complete/absolute/horrible nightmare to achieve this. Korg documentation was written in very very old chinese language and nothing happened as expected; so it took me *a week* to get it work. Too much cheap bourbon to say more at this time of the night but i'll take time to do a clean package with help files and examples as soon as possible. Just a huge teaser here (please read below the patch), courtesy of Jack Daniels (without ice) :

This works for the Korg Kontrol 49. To begin the firework, hit the #0 toggle to enter Native Mode, then, on the right, hit the toggle near the 'metro 250' called "random pads"; your 16 pads should shine and sing on their on...
If you got time, this patch is full of infos needed to do anything
with Korg keyboards, but it's still rather undocumented. But you could explore it as you wish : here you can name the LCDs, control the pads (on/off, colors) and so on...
Stay tuned for more (couple of weeks, at least)
best wishes

I got that mostly working - but it's close enough to my own patch to not bother tinkering with further. I did learn a few things, however, as I'm also a Max/MSP n00b.

So many things in Max/MSP are counter-intuitive to "regular" programming... it's not a matter of not knowing how to program, it's a matter of not knowing how to do the normal stuff in Max/MSP. :)

Currently my working version allows you to :

Toggle pads by pressing them - on/off.

Has a sweep that runs from pad 1 to 16 in order according to BPM.

Displays current BPM on the numeric display.

Allows the large encoder to change the BPM (internal metro), and that is reflected on the numeric display in real time.

Ideally I'd like to fire off a signal when the pad is lit, if the pad was toggled on - sorta a step trigger of sorts. Might be fun for a beat-repeat effect or something. Or using multiple 16-beat arrays as feeds for a drum machine.

It's too bad I can't get my head around a few things in Max - I know WHAT I want to do, and what pseudo-code I'd use to accomplish it... but stringing together controls (especially when you're just learning the environment) can be a bit of a headache.

Text files...

would you mind uploading the actual text files instead of the html for the coll bits? There are several coll files that probably need to be saved as something specific, but they come up as one long html file??
